Peruvian National ITS Control Center (CCNITS)

CPS INFRAESTRUCTURAS MOBILIDAD Y MEDIO AMBIENTE, S.L. has drafted the Project for the Implementation of the National Control Center for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Peru. The scope of the Control Center will be the 25,000 km of the National Road Network under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, supervising and controlling more than 3,500 ITS equipment.

The general objective of the ITS system to be implemented will be to strengthen Peru’s road transportation system, improving road safety, general mobility, environmental sustainability, fiscal control and the logistical competitiveness of freight transportation.

The main functions of the Control Center will be Traffic Management, Traveler Information, Monitoring of weather conditions, Management of Infractions, Monitoring of Cargo and Passenger Transportation, Attention to emergency calls, Control of PROVIAS NACIONAL tolls, Supervision of the National Model of Interoperable Electronic Toll Collection, Information Management and Road Safety.

The project includes the design of the Control Center building with 3 floors and a total built area of 6,500 m2, with 2 underground levels for the parking of 244 vehicles. The Control Center will house a modern TIER III Data Processing Center together with all the necessary facilities for its operation with a reliability and availability degree of 99.98%, including redundant power supply, air conditioning and fire protection.

It will have a total capacity for 500 people with 11 control rooms and 25 technical rooms for installations, as well as a set of offices, meeting rooms, auditoriums, toilets, medical care room, press room, warehouses, etc. to guarantee the correct operation of the system. At the same time, the urbanization and access roads to the Control Center have been designed.
