CPS and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid formalize agreement for the creation of a new Chair

CPS and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM)have formalized a strategic agreement that gives rise to the creation of the Chair “Data for a more Sustainable Mobility”. This new area of collaboration is aimed at promoting scientific and technological development in the field of advanced data management applied to mobility and road safety.
The agreement, signed at the Rectorate of the UPM by the Rector Óscar García Suárez and Gonzalo López CEO of CPSconsolidates an alliance that integrates academic research with practical application in the sector. Promoted by the ETSI de Caminos, Canales y Puertos and the Centro de Investigación del Transporte (TRANSyT), the Chair is articulated around three fundamental axes: dissemination, research and training.
This initiative was born in a context in which the availability of real-time data -from sensors, GPS signals or mobile devices- makes it possible to address challenges such as congestion, mobility planning or accident reduction in an innovative way. The Chair is also a reference forum for the public and private sectors, under the shared leadership of Juan Gómez (UPM) and Javier Tarriño (CPS).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by institutional representatives of both organizations, reaffirming their joint commitment to move towards more sustainable mobility.
For our organization, this collaboration is a great opportunity to enhance the value of new sources of information and contribute to improve the decision making of mobility managers in Spain.
