New traction tension level on Metro Madrid Line 6

CPS, within the framework agreement with Metro Madrid, has carried out the technical assistance of the works for the adaptation of Line 6 to the new traction voltage level of 1,500 Vdc, as well as the complete refurbishment of the Traction Center of López de Hoyos. The intervention included inspection, control and monitoring of the works, guaranteeing the correct execution of the actions and compliance with the established technical, quality and safety requirements.
Last December saw the completion of Phase 1 of this comprehensive transformation of Line 6, a strategic project to modernize one of the lines with the highest demand in the network and make it ready for future automation processes.
Phase 1 has made it possible to adapt the line, which previously operated at 600 Vdc, to the new voltage level of 1,500 Vdc. In addition, key infrastructures have been renovated, electrification systems have been upgraded and the facility has been prepared to incorporate new technological solutions that will increase efficiency, reliability and safety of service.
All this has been carried out in an environment of high operational complexity, with coordinated work to make the execution of the works compatible with railway operation.
