Disaster Risk Management of the Lima Urban Cable Car
CPS Peru has carried out the consultancy to analyze the existing cable transport regulations in different environments in order to identify recommendations to be replicated in the case of Lima’s urban environment. For this purpose, the regulatory framework of different countries in Europe (United Kingdom and Switzerland), a region where there is considerable experience in cable transport systems, was consulted.
The purpose of the project is to provide guidelines to be considered and contents to be included in the Emergency Plan for a ropeway infrastructure.
This plan will be one of the fundamental instruments to guide the Disaster Risk Management of a Cable Car project, with special attention to that of San Juan de Lurigancho – Independencia, where from the preparation of this document and applying the processes of knowledge, reduction and disaster management and in accordance with the provisions of Law 29664 that creates the National System for Disaster Risk Management (SINAGERD) and the National Policy for Disaster Risk Management, approved as a mandatory policy for Peruvian government entities.
In addition, the project identifies, prioritizes and formulates actions to reduce the current and future risk conditions of the project, as well as those arising from the activity or operation of the system itself that may cause damage and losses to the environment, and also to respond to disasters that may occur by coordinating with the disaster risk management institutions of the local municipalities (San Juan de Lurigancho and Independencia).
