Conceptual Study for Expansion of the Southern Section of Cosac I

CPS Peru carried out the drafting of the conceptual study for the Expansion of the Southern Section of Cosac I. The project aims to evaluate and propose the technical conditions for the expansion of the southern section of COSAC, to identify the necessary investments and subsequent management in each of the phases of the investment cycle of invierte.pe for the Metropolitan BRT service, which is the High Capacity Segregated Corridor of Lima.

The South Extension is located from Matellini Station to the south, reaching Av. Confraternidad in the district of Chorrillos, with an approximate length of 2 km. This avenue is the access to the Metropolitano’s South Workshop Yard.

The study evaluated a traffic analysis for the implementation of new intermediate stations, as well as traffic light cycles, video surveillance cameras and urban insertion within the area of influence of the extension. We considered as part of the solution, the use of the existing roadway, prioritizing reserved platform solutions for each station.

Tasks developed during the work:

  • Topographic survey.
  • Traffic counts and mobility surveys.
  • Field data processing.
  • Diagnosis of the current situation.
  • Traffic analysis of the 2 km stretch and microsimulations.
  • Development of Alternatives for the southern expansion.
  • Reference budget for each alternative.
