Expansion of the Carraixet - Valencia section to three lanes. V-21 Highway
The project Design and construction project: Expansion to three lanes of the Carraixet – Valencia section. V-21 Highway The purpose of this project is to define and evaluate the works required to widen the V-21 highway to three lanes in the section between the Alboraya junction and the connection of the Ronda Norte de Valencia with the V-21, corresponding to the section between the current kilometer points 12+900 and 17+100. The study area is located in the province of Valencia, in the municipalities of Alboraya and Valencia.
V-21
The projected works consist of the extension to three lanes of the Alboraya-Valencia section of the V-21 highway and the improvement of a reduced radius curve with serious visibility deficiencies as it coincides with a convex agreement over the railroad. This section has a high traffic density, with an average daily traffic density of 40,000 vehicles/day and around 1% of heavy vehicles.
Tres estructuras sobre caminos
Along its route, the highway is crossed by numerous irrigation ditches, by roads that allow the communication of the towns located to the west of the highway with the coast and by other infrastructures such as the Valencia-Tarragona railroad line, and in the near future by the high-speed railway line planned next to the existing railway infrastructure, and the underpass planned for the northern access to the port in its second phase.
This results in a total of three structures on roads (Camino Viejo del Mar, Camino Hondo and Camino de Farinós), two important irrigation ditches (Vera and Palmaret) and the railroad crossings and the access to the port, as well as extensions with slabs of some irrigation ditches (Savoia and Brazo del Morro). All the existing structures are taken advantage of, generating the necessary extensions except for the one on the old Camino del Mar, which is demolished and a new one is built in the same location. There is no effect on the structure of the Carraixet ravine.
The project contemplates the remodeling of the Alboraya junction, a four-branch junction that is resolved by means of a diamond-type junction with weights, where movements are resolved with two traffic circles on the secondary road, improving road capacity and safety.
The tasks performed during the work are as follows.
- Topographic Survey
- Evaluation of the Current State of the Road
- Geometric Road Design
- Traffic Study
- Soil and Pavement Study
- Structural Calculation
- Signaling and Road Safety
- Technical Specifications, Measurements, Unit Price Analysis, Budget and Execution Schedule
- Environmental Impact Study
- Interference Evaluation
