Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Granada Area

CPS is carrying out the Metropolitan Transport Plan for the Granada Area (PTMAGR) with the aim of achieving a new mobility culture where citizens are the central axis, thus reducing the negative effects of motorized means of transport, by promoting public transport, as well as more environmentally friendly modes of transport, mainly bicycles and walking.

The PTMAGR will benefit more than 596,000 inhabitants of the metropolitan area of Granada and seeks to enhance public transport, improve coverage, quality, safety and accessibility of the service, thus promoting intermodality between urban and interurban public transport and non-mechanized modes of transport.

In addition, the plan aims to advance in a new culture where citizenship is the central axis, incorporating 65% of municipalities in the province of Granada to this plan.

In addition, it seeks to create safe and sustainable mobility strategies for work-related commuting aimed at eliminating unnecessary trips, shortening existing trips (by agreeing on geographic mobility policies) and promoting sustainable modes of commuting (company routes and shuttles, dissuasive parking policies, promotion of car sharing, promotion of pedestrian and bicycle routes, flexible working hours, flexible pay with public transportation cards).

Similarly, the Plan aims to recover space on public roads for non-mechanized modes of transport (pedestrians, cyclists and personal mobility vehicles), thus improving the quality of the urban environment and restoring the streets and squares to their role as first-class spaces for coexistence.

Tasks performed:
