Road Safety Audit of BRT in Abidjan

CPS carried out the project road safety audit of the detailed design of the BTR Yopougon-Bingerville line in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. With the objective of guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of the BTR line, which in turn seeks to improve accessibility to the city’s economic and social opportunities.

The road safety audit of the pre-project of the Yopougon-Bingerville Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line in Abidjan aimed to review the safety conditions of the infrastructure, paying special attention to the problems that may arise for all types of users, including pedestrians and users of bicycles and motorcycles.

To this end, a preliminary study of the document was carried out and then the CPS technical team toured the area where the BRT line is planned to run, in order to foresee future road safety problems and to be able to anticipate them by modifying the preliminary design with the corresponding measures. In addition, the work included validation of the actions taken by the designer to resolve the problems identified in the audit.
