Progress of work on the closure of the Excélsior Landfill Depot

CPS Perú in consortium, continues with the supervision works in the Remediation of the Excélsior Desmontera in the region of Cerro de Pasco, Peru. The closure of the Excélsior landfill is the largest environmental remediation project in Peru and one of the most important in Latin America.

The Excélsior Deposit received mining waste from the Raúl Rojas open pit in Cerro de Pasco from 1956 to 2000, accumulating approximately 50 million tons of waste, whose filtrations contaminated the soil and air in an area of approximately 69 hectares.

Currently, the project has reached 91% completion . Most of the pending works correspond to the irrigation system, including distribution lines and irrigation equipment. This large project will benefit more than 9,000 inhabitants of the communities of Champamarca and Quiulacocha, in Cerro de Pasco.
