Physical and Operational Improvement of the Metropolitano's Plaza de Flores Station
CPS Peru conducted the conceptual study for the physical and operational improvement of the Plaza de Flores Station on the Lima Metropolitano. The project aims to evaluate and propose the technical requirements for the physical and operational improvement of the Plaza de Flores Station, in order to identify the investments needed to improve service delivery on the Metropolitano BRT, which is Lima’s High-Capacity Dedicated Corridor.
The Plaza de Flores Station is strategically located along the route, as it lies south of the Paseo de la República Expressway and sits at the border of three (3) districts of Lima—Miraflores, Surco, and Barranco—all of which are popular tourist destinations with high passenger demand.
The study evaluated the implementation of a south-to-north bus passing lane and the construction of a U-turn loop with parking for standby buses; which improves service during peak hours, shortens the distance traveled by buses, and reduces the number of empty runs, in addition to lowering the cost per kilometer traveled empty.
