Restoration of the Fluvial Ecosystem of the Segura River in Orihuela

CPS in consortium with PYG, will carry out for the Orihuela City Council the drafting of the project called: Restoration of fluvial ecosystems and strategies for flood risk mitigation in Orihuela, which is subsidized by the Biodiversity Foundation, F.S.P. of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO).

The aim of the project is to mitigate the risk of flooding by recovering the old route of the river, reclaiming the old meandering areas, both to provide them with river habitats and to laminate the river in the event of flooding, as well as recovering the riverside forests, eradicating invasive species and revegetating the river course with native species typical of the banks of the Segura river basin.
