Valencia City Council presents the first road safety master plan to the media and to the mobility committee

CPS Infraestructuras, Movilidad y Medio Ambiente S.L. has developed the first Road Safety Master Plan for the city of Valencia, which has been presented at a press conference by the Councillor for Sustainable Mobility and before the Mobility Board.

A safer and more accessible city

The Plan sets out the lines of work to advance the goal of making the city safer, friendlier and more accessible. The Plan establishes short, medium and long term strategies for its implementation before 2023 and contains eight strategic lines to be developed, covering the improvement of infrastructures, education and dissemination, the process of data collection and in-depth study of the points where accidents occur, and a whole series of actions to be developed by practically all the services and departments of the City Council.

With the main objective of reducing the accident rate by ensuring the safe mobility of the different users of public space in the city of Valencia, CPS began working on the development of the Plan in May last year, through a series of surveys and interviews with the main actors of mobility and road safety in Valencia, including different administrations, which allowed a first diagnosis of the situation.

Strategic lines of intervention

With the results of the diagnosis, a participatory workshop was held with relevant local agents related to road safety in the city, to discuss and have feedback on the content, development, orientation and other relevant aspects to be considered. From there, eight local objectives and eight strategic lines of intervention were defined to be developed by the different work areas defined through action plans made up of a series of different actions.

The Road Safety Master Plan provides a framework document that summarizes what has been done so far and what is to be done in the coming years.
